Binalakshmi Nepram joins Global Panel “Voices from Frontline Communities – Leading Climate Action in Agriculture and Food” organised by FAO during Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Weeks (HNPW) 2025

On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, Binalakshmi Nepram joined a global panel convened by Rome based UN Food and Agricultural Organisation and the Climate and Environment Charter Secretariat at the Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Week 2025. The panel discussed how local communities in fragile settings, including displaced populations, face the brunt of humanitarian and climate crises, which disproportionately impact small-scale farmers, herders, fishers, forest dwellers, food workers and their families. Together, they account for more than 2.5 billion people who are vital for food and nutrition security. Managing over 80% of the world’s estimated 500 million small farms, local communities with agrifood livelihoods produce over 80% of the food consumed in crisis settings and much of the developing world playing a critical role in addressing humanitarian needs, poverty reduction, and food security.
